BOSTON — A Cape Cod fisherman accused of violating federal laws because he freed a humpback whale that got entangled in his fishing gear has reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
A lawyer for Robert Eldridge of Chatham tells the Cape Cod Times that the deal means his client will avoid a prison term.
